How It Works

A step-by-step guide to extracting and filtering timestamps from your Twitter/X screenshot collection.

Overview

Tweet-Time Indexer is a specialized tool designed for journalists, researchers, and investigators who need to organize large collections of Twitter/X screenshots by their posting time. The tool uses advanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to read timestamps directly from screenshot images.

Upload Your Screenshots

Start by uploading your Twitter/X screenshots. You have two options for uploading your files:

Individual Images

Drag and drop or click to select multiple image files at once.

  • PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP formats
  • Select multiple files at once
  • Preview before upload

ZIP Archive

Upload a ZIP file containing all your screenshots for batch processing.

  • Process hundreds of files at once
  • Maintains folder structure
  • Ideal for large collections

Tip: Screenshot Quality

For best results, use full-resolution screenshots. The OCR works best when the timestamp text is clear and legible.

02

Automatic Timestamp Extraction

Once you click "Start Analysis", our OCR engine processes each screenshot to find and extract the tweet timestamp. This happens automatically in the background.

Region Detection

The OCR focuses on specific regions of the screenshot where Twitter timestamps typically appear (usually near the bottom of the tweet). This targeted approach improves accuracy and speed.

Pattern Matching

The system looks for timestamp patterns like "5:17 PM · Oct 28, 2025" and validates them to ensure accurate extraction. It understands various Twitter timestamp formats.

Background Processing

Large batches are processed in the background using a job queue. You can see real-time progress as each file is analyzed.

Processing Time

A batch of 100 images typically takes 1-2 minutes. You'll see a progress bar showing the current status.

03

Filter by Time Range

After processing completes, you can filter your screenshots by specifying a date and time range. Only tweets posted within your specified window will be included in the results.

Filter Options

Start Date & Time

Select the beginning of your time range. Only tweets posted on or after this date/time will match.

End Date & Time

Select the end of your time range. Only tweets posted on or before this date/time will match.

Example Use Cases

  • Event Coverage: Filter tweets from a specific event date
  • Time-of-Day Analysis: Find all tweets posted during specific hours
  • Chronological Research: Build a timeline from a large collection
04

Download Filtered Results

Once you've applied your filter, you can download only the matching screenshots as a ZIP archive. This makes it easy to extract exactly the images you need from a large collection.
